Working into the Back Hump

Two lines of crochet in a lilic yarn. The first row is made up of slip stitches worked into the back hump of the foundation chain. The second row is made up of double crochet stitches made into the back hump of a foundation chain.

Working into the ‘back hump’ of your foundation chain will give your piece a smooth and neat chained edge.

How to work into the back hump

• Turn your chain over so wrong side is facing and identify the row of bumps (these are known as the back humps).

• Where the pattern specifies to work into the ‘back hump’ - insert your hook here to make your next stitch.
